A message from the Managing Director – Aku Valta – Issue 5.

Aku ValtaG’day and thanks for coming by. Rapala Fishing News is your premium medium for quality tackle, news and fishing information from around Australia. My name is Aku Valta and I am the new managing director of Rapala Australia. Our company is the subsidiary of Rapala VMC Corporation, one of the biggest fishing tackle manufacturers in the world. We develop, market and sell products like Rapala lures & accessories, Silstar rods and reels, Sufix lines, Storm, Williamson,  Blue Fox and Celta lures in Australia. We are also extremely proud to represent Okuma rods and reels, Pakula lures and accessories and TufLine here.

It is still winter but the fishing never stops! I recently had the pleasure of experiencing first hand the Southern Bluefin Tuna off Portland, Victoria. We only had a couple of hours to spend on the water but that short period of time was action packed. We caught five tuna (released four) on the Pakula Hothead Phantom skirted lure, new Destroyer Hybrids and Rapala X-Rap Magnum 30 lures. Kudos goes to our skipper, local fishing guru Bob McPherson and game fishing legend Peter Pakula with whom I fished with. You can’t go wrong with these guys. By Portland standards the tuna were average or below size but boy don’t they pull hard! I may need to get back to gym again.

Aku ValtaThe fish of the month prize goes to Ian “The Lord” Convoy though! Take a look at his wild Barra caught with a Storm ThunderCrank 10 cm lure from Auracun, west of Cape York, elsewhere on the news. I’ve never seen a bigger Barra – have you? Congrats Ian for a fish of a life time…

We are getting more and more reports from around the country regarding catches with our new soft plastics brand Slam. These really seem to work from barra to snapper and anything in between. The Ultrabite consisting,  biodegradable Slams are developed here for our fish, no wonder they work. Get ready for a massive Slam photo competition soon!

The new season is approaching and the brand new products are hitting the shops sooner than you think.  At this stage I can confirm that the rumors you’ve heard are true: there is a special version of most popular hard bait of the world, X-Rap, arriving in July. The Floating X-Rap will be sold in Australia only and the supply will be very limited so get one if you see one.  More info on the next issue of Rapala Fishing News.

The big game is about to change thanks to major reel manufacturer Okuma. Makaira is the name of the series that comes with everything you need to fight the demons of the deep with confidence, at a price affordable to all! You rarely get that much bang for buck and naturally the only ‘Life Time Warranty’ on fishing reels in Australia.  More info of Makaira also coming soon.

I hope you enjoy Rapala Fishing News. If any questions arise, let us know. You can find our contact info from this page and we will be happy to help you.

Aku ValtaWe wish you every success in all your fishing endeavors

On behalf of Rapala Australia Team,

Aku Valta

Managing Director

Director of South East Asia & Pacific distribution

I have been trying to track down someone who
knows something about Rublex Celtas lures in particular their history of manufacturer, the colour and size variations that have been produced and a diagramn of the lures broken down into its components. So I was keen to follow up when I saw the message from the MD that Rapala develop, market and sell celta lures.

Can you help with my enquiry or provide information on an individual or organisation that I can follow up with about Rublux celta lures

    Look forward to a reply

    Thanks

    Gavin
